Choosing Peace Over Conflict

Raising a white flag of truce isn’t admitting defeat. On the contrary, it allows you to continue on your path—any chosen path—without opposition. There is always a battle against something, whether it be a person or an idea. You may choose to be part of this struggle and push against it, or you may decide to lay down the gauntlet and flow with the stream of consciousness, embracing ease and contentment. Ultimately, you choose your battles—or the lack thereof.

Engaging in opposition to anything draws attention simply through the act of focusing on it, causing it to expand. Focus leads to expansion. Your attention can magnify what you concentrate on. Instead, withdraw your attention by shifting your focus to pleasantries or things that feel better to you. Even the smallest details—a crack in the sidewalk—can lead to an entire world of imagination, much like Alice following the rabbit down the hole.

If you catch the tail of a dream, the expansion of that thought can propel you to an entirely different perspective, akin to grabbing the end of a train of skaters passing by. You may land in a new locale or situation that advances you further along your path toward the happiness you seek. Happiness is always present; it simply requires your attention away from the unwanted. Divert and avert. Shift and expand.

Feel the well of potential, hope, and curiosity begin to arise, and follow it like a detective on the trail of a mystery. The discoveries you uncover and experience will surprise and delight you. It is more than okay to lay down your battle gear, to skip to another stream, and to enjoy what you do, no matter the cause or reason. Catch the flow and go. Shifting is easier than you think; release the thought and believe in the ease and peace that are available for your experience.
