Embracing Disturbances: the Path of Awareness and Expansion

Agitation or churning of a substance may produce a desired alternate substance or situation. Whether it is turbulent waters that churn up long-buried finds or cream that turns to butter, oftentimes the turbulence is what is needed, although it may not be desired, to bring about the desired effects. The churning or turbulence does not have to be violent, although it may seem as such to the object being uncovered or the emotion brought to the surface. Once in the light of day, it may be admired, admonished, or tossed to the side.

Like a splinter under the skin, some hidden or buried emotions will fester and arise after causing much consternation, pain, or disturbance to surrounding areas or other parts of the body. Rather than hide, bury, or cover unwanted emotions—or even undetected ones, as is the case with a splinter—it is best to allow the light of day to reveal any disturbances without burying them. It is much easier to rid yourself of unwanted splinters or fractures in life before they fester or cause further pain. Often, they result in swelling of the areas without awareness of an existing problem.

Daily attention to yourself, your body, and your surroundings is cleansing and cathartic, helping keep you free of such disturbances. However, if and when they do occur, make yourself aware of them and work to eradicate or sweep all disturbances away through meditation and the cleansing of your mind, body, and spirit. Trust your instincts and knowledge to stay your course and move freely without major disturbances in life. It is not about avoiding the disturbances but being aware of them that keeps your field of energy moving and expanding with ease and grace.
