Finding the Rhythm of Nature: The Gift of Time

There is a natural rhythm that nature abides by, and you will too if not overridden by your mind. It is one of flow, a rhythm that nature follows without outside devices that keep what you consider time. Time is a construct to be loosely followed, glanced at at best rather than raced against. Any time you are in a race against time, time wins, no doubt. You may not relish each moment or, worse yet, even notice what is around you for experiencing.

Wolfing down food in a race against the clock does not afford any of the senses the opportunity to taste, savor, or allow for any enjoyment, nutrients, or fulfillment to be had. If it is for a game or contest and is known, that is one thing—an isolated event that is for your enjoyment. But in most cases, it is done without thought or by rote and provides nothing of the intention of the food. Yes, food also has intentions: to be absorbed, enjoyed, or received by you. Rather, it passes through, leaving only a trail of sludge or discontent in its wake.

You may or may not have become so accustomed to the inexperience that is happening in your hours that you are not living the life you have. Stop, slow down, or impede that process by removing all timepieces from your existence, even if only as a game or for a while, just to show yourself the effects of going with the flow and feeling the rhythm of nature within. All will still happen, but with enjoyment. The sun shines, the cows' milk will come in, the roosters will crow. Your body will sync with the rhythm of nature if given the chance, without the override of your mind and clock.

This small exercise you gift yourself with, if allowed, will add what is considered years to your life—years of enjoyment, not bondage. It only takes letting go and allowing yourself to try for just a bit. Allow yourself the gift of no time. Time is not the thief; you are gifting your experiences to time, trading your experiences for an outside timepiece. Lay it down. Slow, pause, then come to a stop and rest; your mind, body, and, in turn, your spirit will rise.
